I wanted to learn to meditate but I had no idea where to begin so...

I tried goddess meditation, Buddhist meditation in Thailand, mindfulness meditation, walking meditation, and sat Zazen in temples in Japan. I was desperately looking for a regular practice that would help me cope both with depression and with feelings of disconnection and isolation. 
then i went to india
After a lot of searching I finally learned YOGIC meditation techiques that really worked. They helped me learn how to calm my mind with mantra and nyasa (a specific finger counting technique). Since I had already learned about and loved other yoga practices like asanas and pranayama, this meditation was in sync with my interest in and dedication to the yogic path.
